Hyundai Alcazar 2024 Unveiled at ₹14.99 Lakh: The SUV Fray Just Gets Fresher by Nivedita Mukherjee

Hyundai Motor India has finally introduced the highly teased Hyundai Alcazar 2024 at an ambitious introductory price of ₹14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between the Hyundai Creta 2024 and Hyundai Tucson in the pecking order of SUVs, this newest recruit is expected to stir things up with an upheaval by directly taking on the formidable rivals comprising Mahindra Scorpio-N, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.

The new Alcazar boasts a host of updates to keep it different from its predecessors. Hyundai’s premium 6/7-seater SUV will come in four variants: Executive, Prestige, Platinum, and Signature; there are considerable exterior and interior updates, with new tech too. The base-level Alcazar petrol is priced at ₹14.99 lakh ex-showroom, and the base diesel is priced at ₹15.99 lakh ex-showroom.

The new Alcazar 2024 with smooth new design lines is offered with dark chrome front grille, quad-beam LED headlamps, and H-shaped LED DRLs. The connected LED taillamps are in its new avatar at the rear, while a newly designed tailgate garnish and sporty spoiler round off. On the outside, there are new LED turn signals with sequential function, new bumpers and skid plate designs, along with bridge-type roof rails and diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels. The Alcazar is 4,560mm long, 1,800mm wide, and 1,710mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,760mm, thus making it quite an imposing vehicle on the road. Available in nine exterior colors, including for the first time two new colors: Robust Emerald Matte and Titan Grey Matte.

Inside, the revised Alcazar sports a more premium dual-tone cabin in Noble Brown and Haze Navy. Ventilated seats are available for both the first and second-row occupants, while the driver and co-driver get powered adjustment with the memory function, including thigh cushion extension for greater comfort. The set of 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrument clusters is inlaid into the dashboard to complement the new automatic climate control.

Premium also includes an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a second-row wireless charger, a magnetic pad on the driver console, and voice-enabled panorama sunroof. It further supports more than 70 Bluelink connected-car features, integrated smart watch and smartphone connectivity, and 10 ambient sounds of nature for an enhanced drive experience.

The new Alcazar 2024 has come up with Hyundai’s Digital Key and NFC technology that are going to make the locking, unlocking, and driving of the SUV much easier with the use of a smartphone or smartwatch. It can also share the Digital Key with up to three users and seven linked devices.

At front of mind, the Alcazar boats 40 standard features: six airbags, hill-start assist, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring. Over and above that, more than 70 safety features can be specced on the SUV, including SmartSense Level 2 ADAS with its 19 features – Smart Cruise Control, Surround View Monitor, and Lane Keeping Assist.

Performance and Warranty : Alcazar

Under the hood, the Alcazar continues with the same powertrains: a 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol churning out 160PS/253Nm and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel developing 116PS/250Nm. The petrol gives you the option between a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT while the diesel can be had with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT torque converter. Following are the ARAI-certified mileage figures: 17.5kmpl for the petrol MT, 18kmpl for the petrol DCT, 20.4kmpl for the diesel MT and 18.1kmpl for the diesel AT.

Hyundai is offering a 3-year/unlimited-kilometer warranty with roadside assistance and customers can opt for an extended warranty option for up to 7 years.
