Google is poised to orchestrate its “Made by Google” gala on August 13 (August 14 in India), where it will unveil its latest assemblage of Google Pixel gadgets, headlined by the Pixel 9 series.
For the inaugural time, Google will introduce its foldable smartphone — the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold — to the Indian market. Notably, this is also the first instance the tech behemoth will showcase its flagship smartphone lineup before the customary iPhone launch, which generally transpires in September annually.
Departing from tradition, Google intends to unveil more than two premium devices. Speculations indicate that the lineup will encompass the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
As anticipated, Google has divulged the design of these devices, aligning with the images shared by the tech blog Rozetked in May. The Pixel landing page for India presently displays only the Pixel 9 Pro (potentially the Pixel Pro XL too?) and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, hinting that the base model may not be accessible in the region.
Recently, 91Mobiles divulged exclusive insights about the Pixel smartphones, courtesy of the reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks). “We are presenting to you the marketing visuals of the Google Pixel 9 series including the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, showcasing the new design, specifications, AI, and other features of the new Pixels,” the report elaborated.
In terms of display, the Pixel 9 is projected to sport a 6.3-inch Actua display, while the Pixel 9 Pro could feature a 6.3-inch screen, upgraded to a Super Actua display. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is anticipated to boast a larger 6.8-inch Super Actua display, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is likely to possess a 6.3-inch Actua cover screen and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner display.
According to 91Mobiles, the Pixel 9 will be equipped with a 50MP primary camera and a 48MP ultrawide lens. Both the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are expected to feature a 50MP main lens, 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto sensor. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold adopts a slightly different configuration with a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultrawide snapper, and a 10.8MP telephoto sensor.
Front camera specifications are purported to include a 10.5MP selfie camera for the Pixel 9, a 42MP front camera for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL, and a 10MP selfie shooter for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Under the hood, all models will be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chipset. Memory configurations vary, with the Pixel 9 likely to offer up to 12GB of RAM, while the Pixel 9 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold could come equipped with up to 16GB RAM.
91Mobiles added that Google has also integrated advanced AI and software enhancements into the Pixel 9 series. The Gemini AI model is also rumored to be bundled free for one year, allowing users to leverage features such as Circle to Search.
“Google promises seven years of security updates and Pixel Drops (software updates with new Pixel-exclusive features),” the report concluded.
