Less than a month before the Lok Sabha elections, the Modi-led Union Government has announced the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 regulations.

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which was adopted by Parliament in 2019, is already being implemented throughout India, according to a government announcement. Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian immigrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan who arrived in India on or before December 31, 2014, are granted citizenship under the legislation.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has notified that applications for citizenship under the CAA 2019 must be submitted entirely online through the Indian Citizenship Online platform. The candidate must electronically submit an application to the Empowered Committee via the District Level Committee in order to be registered or naturalized under section 6B, as the Center may notify.
